2-2-22

Today would have been my Grandma’s birthday. She was born February 2nd 1922 which gave her the easy-to-remember birthday of 2-2-22. This is the first year where I don’t send a card or call to wish her a happy birthday. I still will think of her today though.

After my grandma’s funeral I thought a lot of what her life was like. Growing up without a mom in Northern Minnesota, how she was so close with her sister, living in her dad’s house with a new born baby while my grandpa was in the war (the picture to the right is a photo she sent to my grandpa while he was gonve of her and my uncle), and how she raised a family while she was physically limited due to MS. I never really considered all these things while she was here. To me she was always Grandma who made me toast when I would go to her house. I wish now that I would have asked her more about her life. It’s a regret I think most of us have about our loved ones that have moved on.

The end was hard for her and I know she is a lot better off now where ever she is, but I am going to remember of her on this day.

I thought of family today, too. I thought of Dorie and of Paul. I thought of you. I talked with Jen.
Family is very important, isn't it?

I've always wished you could have met more of my family. My Dad was a nice guy, and he took care of my Mom. Growing up in the depression,it must have been hard for both of them.

What a nice tributue to your grandma! I thought of her, too and what a wonderful mother she was to me and your dad. There's always more we wished we had learned about our loved ones...did you know she was a terrific swimmer? Maybe that's where you and Jenny got your talent. P.S...if I would have been born premature, it could have been 4-4-44!
